Individuals often find it challenging to align their daily activities with their long-term aspirations, leading to a gap between their current lifestyle and their ideal life
Momentumm is built on three core principles: flexibility, simplicity, and emotional insight. We designed the app to adapt to users’ unique lifestyles, making personal growth accessible and sustainable.
Momentumm is a personal development app that helps users set and achieve their goals by tracking habits, monitoring mood, and providing actionable insights. The app is designed to be flexible, intuitive, and emotionally supportive, ensuring users stay motivated and aligned with their aspirations.
One on one interviews were conducted with 5 participants with the goal to understand the specific factors that prevent individuals from achieving personal alignment so that we can create targeted solutions within the app to address these barriers effectively. Also to know how users currently utilize existing digital tools for self-improvement so that we can identify gaps and opportunities for innovation in our app design. And finally to know the impact of lifestyle alignment on users’ mental and emotional well-being so that we can emphasize these benefits in our app’s value proposition.
“I use Insight Timer for meditation, and it has a mood tracker. I like seeing how my mood changes over time and how it correlates with my habits, like meditation or exercise”
Gabriela E
“I like tools that are simple and don’t overwhelm me with too many options. I use a Pilot Board for my weekly goals because it’s straightforward and easy to customize“
Maíra M
“I read a book that talks about setting intentions and visualizing your goals. I’d love to have something like that in an app, guided exercises or affirmations to help me stay focused”
Gabriela F
To gather further information and with the intent to better understand how individuals engage with personal development tools and practices, including manifestation techniques, a Personal Development and Well-Being Survey was conducted with 20 participants with the aim to explore the connection between daily habits, mood, and personal growth. Here are some of the important data that we’ve collected:

Competitor's analysis summary
Meet Emma, Alex, and Mia, three personas who represent the diverse needs of our users.
Emma is a 32-year-old marketing manager who thrives on achieving her goals but often feels overwhelmed by her workload. She sets high standards for herself and struggles with self-doubt when she can’t meet her own expectations.
Emma uses digital tools like task managers and calendars, but she often feels paralyzed by the sheer number of tasks and deadlines. She needs a way to prioritize effectively and stay motivated without feeling guilty when life gets in the way.
Alex is a 28-year-old freelance graphic designer who values flexibility and creativity. They prefer setting long-term goals but often lose motivation when faced with rigid plans or overwhelming tasks. Alex enjoys experimenting with different productivity tools but finds most of them too structured or complicated. They need a system that allows them to adapt their goals as their priorities change while still providing enough structure to keep them on track.
Mia is a 35-year-old teacher who is deeply committed to her personal and professional goals. She is highly organized but often feels anxious and guilty when she falls out of alignment with her goals. Mia uses digital tools and handwritten planners but struggles to maintain consistency when life gets busy. She is also deeply spiritual and wants her goal-setting process to align with her values and mindfulness practices.
Asking the right questions to guide our design
How might we create a goal-tracking tool that combines the simplicity of non-digital methods with the functionality of digital tools to help goal-oriented users maintain consistency and motivation?
How might we help goal-oriented users maintain consistency and momentum in achieving their goals through tools that are simple, customizable, and motivating?
How might we develop strategies and tools that help goal-oriented users overcome self-doubt and manage time effectively to achieve their personal goals?
Our initial sitemap was ambitious, with multiple layers and features.
Before: a complex sitemap with overlapping features and unclear navigation
After: A streamlined structure that focuses on core functionalities, making it easier for users to achieve their goals without feeling overwhelmed.

The app’s background gradient was directly inspired by the twilight sky. The colors were carefully extracted to evoke a sense of calm, tranquility and spirituality. This gradient creates a serene backdrop for the app, grounding users in the emotional connection to the sky.
For the app’s interface elements, a refined palette was created to ensure accessibility and usability while maintaining the twilight’s emotional essence. This palette balances emotional resonance with functional clarity, ensuring the app is both visually pleasing and accessible.
Be Vietnam, a modern and whimsical sans-serif font, was chosen for its clean yet playful aesthetic. Its versatility complements the app’s balance of simplicity and creativity, making it perfect for both headlines and body text.
The evolution of momentumm's design
The design process began with hand-drawn sketches, exploring different layouts and flows for the app. These sketches helped us visualize the user journey and identify potential pain points early on.
The sketches were translated into digital wireframes, refining the structure and ensuring a logical flow. This stage allowed us to test the app’s functionality and gather feedback from mentors and peers.

Refining the design through user feedback
We conducted usability tests with 5 participants to evaluate two key flows: creating a goal and adding a habit to an existing goal. Both tasks had a 100% completion rate, with high ease-of-use and satisfaction scores.
While the core functionality was intuitive, users identified areas for improvement, such as clarifying button labels and improving the pencil icon’s purpose
Based on feedback, we made several changes:
